The oil, which is produced through cold pressing, contains: Linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acid) which may play a role in the structure of cell membranes; oleic acid (omega -9 fatty acid), which is responsible for keeping the skin soft and moist; linolenic acid (omega-3 fatty acid) which is a good moisturizer for the skin; antioxidants, beta-carotene, lycopene and vitamin C, which are important for protection against damage caused by free radicals.

The various components of rosehip oil achieve a unique combination that is great for the skin. Fatty acids are essential for the health of our skin although our body is unable to manufacture them. Anti-oxidants are considered to be effective in reducing and delaying the signs of aging.

The effectiveness of rosehip oil may be limited in the case of oily skin. Oil allergies are rare, but it is always advisable to get tested.

In soap making: It is a very fragile oil, with a short shelf life. It is preferable to use it in lotions or creams, which remain on the skin longer, than in soap. However, nothing prevents its use, it is only recommended that it be used in a percentage of 3-6% of the oils used, to avoid rancidity.
