Cupuaçu Butter comes from the fruit of a tree whose botanical name is Theobroma Grandiflorum. It is a plant from the cocoa family, originating from the Brazilian Amazon forest.
The fruit, namely the pulp surrounding the seeds, is used to produce juice, jelly and other foods, while the seeds are pressed to extract the oily butter.

There are several reasons why cupuaçu butter is considered an excellent ingredient in skin care: This exotic butter is very rich in phenolic compounds, such as proanthocyanidins, which protect the skin from oxidative damage. Cupuaçu butter also contains flavonoids, including theograndins. These antioxidants offer potential protection against oxidative stress associated with chronic diseases and premature aging. It is also rich in phytosterols, especially beta-sitosterol.
The combined action of phytosterols and polyphenols gives this butter a strong preventative action against the signs of aging.
With emollient and soothing properties, it will give a creamy texture and facilitate the application of your cosmetic preparations.

It is a soft and smooth butter that melts on contact with the skin. Oleic acid is the main fatty acid found in cupuaçu butter, in a percentage of 30-43%, followed by lauric acid with around 25%.

Cupuaçu butter is used to prevent skin dryness, reduce wrinkles and restore skin flexibility and elasticity.

It is also important to highlight that cupuaçu butter has a high capacity to retain water. In fact, it can hold up to 4 times its weight in water, which makes it excellent for helping to hydrate your skin and makes this butter a good lanolin substitute!
