The leaves are harvested and beaten to facilitate the release of the wax before being separated and processed.

Carnauba Wax has several characteristics that make it a very valuable product for cosmetic use and beyond.

It is hard and brittle, usually in the form of yellow-orange flakes.

It is one of the hardest waxes among vegetable waxes, with its melting point of 80 - 88 ºC!

Thanks to its hardness, Carnauba Wax is the perfect ingredient for making lipsticks, homemade eyeliner pencils and many other products that require some hardness and consistency.

Properties and applications:
The main property for which Carnauba Wax stands out is the shiny finish it provides to the products in which it is incorporated.

Therefore, it can be used in all types of products in which this requirement is essential, especially when mixed with Beeswax or Olive Wax.

Carnauba Wax is an antioxidant element!

It is an emollient and hypoallergenic wax, that is, it is unlikely to cause an allergic reaction in the people who use it.

For this reason, Carnauba Wax is perfect for cosmetic use!

With a high melting point, it is very useful in lipsticks, lip balms and deodorant bars to increase their resistance to heat.

Cosmetic Use: Carnauba Wax must be melted and incorporated into the oil phase of a cosmetic formula.

- Adds consistency and shine to lipsticks, eyeliners, eye shadows or makeup bars.
- When used in shampoos or conditioners, it adds shine and improves the appearance of hair.
- Excellent as an ingredient in moisturizing bars for dry and very dry skin.

Recommended usage levels*:
- Lipsticks, deodorants, eyeliner or other makeup sticks: 5-15%
- Conditioners and shampoos: up to 0.3% (to add shine to the hair).
- Emulsions (creams) especially for dry skin: small quantities (less than 0.5%)

It is often found in gum, drops and some chocolates. It also finds applications in the pharmaceutical industry to coat certain medicines.

It is very waterproof, meaning it is normally used to waterproof clothes and protect leather products, providing excellent shine, increasing hardness and prolonging their useful life.
